- Holy Shrine dedicated to Hindu Deity, Lord Krishna. Picture taken in the town of Udupi, in the state of Karnataka, South India. Picture shot on Feb 10, 2014, and shows the holy tank in the foreground, with the Temple towers seen in the background. The building in the center of the tank, known as Mandapam, is where the sacred rituals are carried out. Four pillared corridors surround the tank with steps descending to the water. This is for the convenience of devotees to take a dip in the holy tank, before entering the Temple. The holy tank here is named Madhava Sarovar, after the local saint Madhavacharya, who preached a form of Hinduism, several centuries ago.
